Hempseeds make a milk that is high in protein and calcium.  Hemp milk is as easy to make as blending hempseeds and water, it is easy to digest and so it is unlikely to cause any digestive upset.

Basic Hemp Seed Milk Recipe

Hemp Milk Recipe

  • ½ - 1 cup hempseeds
  • 4 cups water
  • himalayan salt (optional)
  1. Add ingredients to a blender
  2. Blend for a minute or 2 until creamy and milky
  3. If desired, strain through a nut milk bag
  4. Store in a glass jar in fridge for up to 5 days

Variations on your Hemp Milk

Depending on your palette, you may like to add any of the following to flavour your Hemp Milk:
  • a little Vanilla powder
  • a pinch of Cinnamon
  • a drop or 2 of Stevia
Adding teaspoon of lecithin can make your milk a little smoother to taste.

Mixing it up and going nutty

Hempseeds blend well with nuts, why not try combining hemp seeds with:
  • Almonds
  • Cashews or
  • Hazelnuts
Consider blending with Quinoa also. The proportion of nuts or seeds to milk stays roughly the same, 1 part nuts and seeds to 4 parts water.  The rest is up to your imagination! Strain through a nut milk bag for a creamy milky texture, or just use as is to make chia puddings by adding chia seeds and some protein powder.  Yum!
